Its romantic common name is rooted in folklore, reflecting the blush of a maiden receiving a marriage proposal. Native to the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, this fynbos species is uniquely adapted to fire, with seeds relying on post-fire conditions to sprout, highlighting its incredible resilience.
