Season your meals and snacks with a delicate mix of edible fynbos varieties and hand-harvested Cape west coast sea salt or whole black peppercorns for a novel taste sensation.

South Africa's culinary flavours derive from a family of ancient botanicals indigenous to the southern tip of Africa. Fynbos (fine bush in Afrikaans/Dutch) comprise the greater portion of the Cape Floristic Region with some 7 000 recorded species. 

Select from: 

  • Buchu - the most sensational of all the Fynbos herbs transforming everyday flavours into mouth-watering experiences. Season seared picanha, braaied line-fish, tray-baked chicken, lamb shank, flambéed chicken livers, salmon sushi, tomato salsa and mielie butter.
  • Cape Mountain Sage - embodies the fresh scent of mountain slopes in the early morning mist with deep herbaceous tones and notes of sage. Season emon-butter kingklip, creamy walnut tagliatelle, grilled haloumi burger, butternut lasagne, onion lentil loaf, brandy infused chicken liver pâté, ground pork stuffing, blue cheese gnocchi, sumac avocado salad, beef and mushroom pastie.
  • Honeybush - a sweet herb adding a delicate honey flavour to warm and cold dishes. Season sticky marinades, onion soup, casseroles, cauliflower bake, butternut and sweet-potato wedges, roasted root vegetables, sago pudding, milk-tart and red velvet cup-cake icing. Toast lightly and sprinkle over oven-roasted veggies.
  • Mint Pelargonium - (only available in salt) adds a minty-geranium vibrancy to warm and cold dishes. Use as a seasoning and finishing salt. Season zucchini fritters, lentil-feta salad, cucumber ribbons, bulgur mushroom salad, goat’s cheese couscous, oven roasted root vegetables, pear and walnut salad, cream cheese brioche and cocktail rissoles.
  • Nutmeg Pelargonium - (only available in salt) deliciously aromatic adding layers of exotic flavour. Season shitake mushroom tart, moussaka, spicy spaetzle, potato gratin, cheese fondue, spinach ravioli and béchamel sauce.
  • Rhino Bush - a delicate resinous flavour that melts into seared food surfaces. Season grilled mushrooms, steak, beef/chickpea burgers, potatoe wedges, French fries, braaied Karoo lamb, pork kebabs, wild mushroom ravioli, wok-seared chilli-garlic cabbage, arancini, risotto, bitterballen, cheesy pizza and croque monsieurs.
  • Rooibos - draws flavours together with notes of caramel and rosehip. Season caramelised onions, cherry tomato sauce, sweet potato mash, roasted butternut, gruyere omelette, breakfast eggs, crispy chicken and tomato-bredie. Sprinkle over vanilla ice-cream and splash with peppery olive oil.
  • Snow Bush - a wild rosemary flavour with a hint of pepper. Season creamy mushroom sauce, Karoo lamb meatballs, tzatziki dip, confit garlic potatoes, puy lentil salad, yoghurt carrot salad, beef carpaccio, prawn orzo and feta focaccia.
